20 Week Bumpdate & Gender Reveal

August 28, 2017 by Vivian 2 Comments

I am officially 20 weeks pregnant as of today (halfway there!!), and realized I never shared what we are having or any recent update on the blog! Pregnancy has been hard, I knew it would be tough but honestly I had no idea it would be this physically and emotionally draining. I used to dream of taking cute bumpdate photos and loving pregnancy, and while I am SO thankful to be pregnant and carrying our baby, I am definitely not one of those women on Instagram with the adorable bump shots in great maternity clothes because let’s be real; most days I can’t even fathom putting on makeup let alone taking photos.

The great thing about being 20 weeks is I can finally justify buying baby things and planning our baby shower with my mom and sisters. It really helps to know I’ve made it this far and I can start keeping my mind busy with planning.

20 week bumpdate

GENDER| If you follow me on social media you would know that we are having a BOY! We found out about 4 weeks ago from an elective ultrasound and it was VERY apparent that baby is a boy. This will be the first boy on my side of the family in a very long time, so it was very surprising!

SYMPTOMS| Honestly most days I still feel like I am in the first trimester all over again. The nausea has been a little better the past few weeks since being put on medication, but I still have a bad relationship with food. I’ve had pretty horrible acid reflux for a couple months now and that hasn’t helped with my sleeping or food aversions either. I’ve had a few times where I was out and about and got the overwhelming feeling that I was about to faint, which is really scary. Thankfully I carry a cold water, a snack, and some kind of hard candy in my bag now for when that happens. I am wishing for a surge in energy like I keep hearing you get in the second trimester, but so far I’m still just super sleepy.

COMING UP| We have our anatomy scan next week and I cannot wait to see how much bigger baby boy has gotten these past few weeks. I am also starting to transition into some maternity clothing pieces, while still trying to make some of my normal clothes work for now because maternity clothing is expensive af.

That’s pretty much it for this 20 week update! Send some good thoughts my way as I start a new semester of school (all online thankfully) and here’s to getting my energy back! If you’re a mom send me some blog posts of things I should register for or items I definitely need!
