Baby gear buying when you’re pregnant is pretty intense. SO many options. Will baby even like this? Do I drop $200 dollars on a bassinet and then baby hates it? No, but really. By now we’ve learned what is essential during those first three months home with baby and things I feel like you could personally live without. I’ve come up with a list of things we couldn’t live without during the newborn stage of 0-3 months.

Carters Sleep Sacks | since Nathan was born in January, it was pretty chilly especially at night. I absolutely love the fleece and cotton ones as the months got a little warmer. He wasn’t much of a swaddle fan at all so these were great. Also, mittens. We used mittens or long sleeved onesies with the fold over hands every day when he was a baby (some say you’ll never use them, but we did).
Rock N Play | and not just any Rock N Play, I highly recommend the automatic rocking one. We loved that it played white noise, lullabies, and has different speeds. He took many naps in this thing, and it helped me take showers, and make food (all of the praise hands) I’m so sad he’s growing out of it!
NoseFrida | I know you might not want to spend almost twenty bucks on a glorified snot sucker, but do it! I cannot imagine not having it now. Nathan sadly got sick in the first two months of his life and the congestion was horrible. This was the only thing that helped.
Summer Infant Bath Seat | We are still using this bath seat five months later and love it! It works great in the kitchen sink for when they are really tiny and also in the tub. I love that it folds flat so it stores nicely. We knew we didn’t want a big bulky bath tub so this was perfect, and super inexpensive!
Nuk Pacifiers | we started out with the basic pacifiers but Nathan didn’t seem to take to them much at all. After reading SO many reviews, these were the winner and are his favorite! Months 0-3 he LOVED these, but now he’s primarily a thumb sucker, but when we do offer a pacifier he does like these still. We also use the NUK Simply Natural bottles as well, since he is breastfed and had colic, these bottles were/are AMAZING.
Gripe Water & Gas Drops | if you have a fussy baby like we did due to colic you need these in your life. I cannot tell you how hard and tiring it is when you have a baby who cries and cries and you can’t figure out what’s wrong. Thankfully the pediatrician recommended gas drops and gripe water and they both definitely helped.
What were your must haves for the newborn stage? I cant wait to share more of my baby and mama favorites!
