I am finally sitting down to recap our amazing Disney trip, and I am already feeling the nostalgia coming on. Honestly it was the most amazing trip; I felt like the happiest girl in the world, at the happiest place in the world. You just can’t beat that! So…on to day one of our Disney trip!
Day one started with a very early morning. We decided that since we had three days in the park that we would spend two nights in a hotel and travel to Disney on day one and back home on day three of our vacation (we live less than three hours from Disneyland). This worked out perfectly for us! We woke up bright and early (because how can you not be a morning person when going to Disney??) and started our drive to Anaheim. Traffic surprisingly wasn’t too bad and we made it there by 10:30 am. Since I am a planner to a fault, I already knew exactly how we would ride every single ride, get fast passes, have all the cliche Disney food, and still have down-time.
Our first day at Disney was spent at California Adventure. It was sunny and 75 – in early March! We had one magic morning since we purchased the Southern California three day pass, and we wanted to use that on Saturday for Disneyland. The hotel we chose to stay at was a mere 15 minute walk, with a shuttle, (and free parking – SCORE!) so we we’re very close to Disney without having to pay that hefty parking fee every day.
Once we arrived, I knew that immediately we needed to get fast passes for Radiator Springs. From all of the research I had done I knew that if we didn’t get a fast pass early in the day, we might not be able to at all. Not to mention the wait time for that ride is always over an hour and a half. Always. Thankfully, we were able to get our fast pass before they ran out, and for a nighttime ride! Exactly what we wanted. Once we got that, I felt pretty successful already and we decided to ride some of the more low key rides with no fast passes.
Once we explored, rode some rides, and had a churro of course – it was time to get another fast pass! We decided to get one for Soarin’ which is one of my most favorite rides ever. Honestly Disney did everything right with their fast pass system because it seriously ROCKS! We never waited in an hour for longer than 30-45 minutes if that because of them.
As we we’re walking around we found the theater for the exclusive sneak peak of the new live action Beauty and the Beast. Holy cow, I was SO excited. The theater was so beyond beautiful, they showed it in 3D. Disney used special effects that would spray or breeze the audience which made the experience a million times more amazing. Let’s just say, I cannot wait to see the full movie.
I knew that I wanted to ride California Screamin’ but Joe wasn’t having it (I don’t blame him), so I rode single rider right at sunset and it was the best thing ever! Next, finally it was our time to ride Radiator Springs. We we’re both SO excited for this, neither of us had done this before since it is a newer ride and it did not disappoint! Cars land in general was beautiful at night, so I knew this ride was a must do after sunset. Let me just tell you, after we used our fast pass on this ride, the fast pass line was over a two hour wait! Thankfully we used it right away and only waited about 30 minutes.
To end our night we got a soft serve at the Cozy Cone in Cars land and walked ourselves back to the hotel. Day one was magical and perfect. Next up is day two which is our day at Disneyland!
Stay tuned…
What is your favorite part or ride at Disneyland/world??
