Now that I am officially out of my first trimester (what!!!????) I can share a recap of how my first 14 weeks of pregnancy went. Plus some must haves because I became pretty high maintenance when I felt sick 24/7 and could only get down certain things.
From the moment I found out that I was pregnant I know morning sickness #AllDaySickness was a real strong possibility for me. I found out right around five weeks and felt good. Anxious, but good. We had an early ultrasound at 6 weeks to make sure everything was going okay and that was the first time we saw the heartbeat and completely fell in love. I had about a week of feeling good (LOL) and then it hit me like a ton of bricks. I felt weak, tired, and nauseous pretty much night and day. I am so thankful for Joe because he completely picked up the slack when I didn’t feel good and never complained once.
Things that helped me get through my first trimester:
Gatorade – my doctor actually told me to drink half water / half Gatorade when I couldn’t get anything down to at least keep me hydrated. This helped so much because sometimes getting just water down was hard.
Crackers – this is obvious, but I still keep them by my bed for days I wake up feeling nauseous.
Jolly Ranchers – anytime I had to go anywhere I would bring them with me. For some reason having a hard candy of some kind to suck on when you feel really sick helps SO much.
Sea Bands – my mom bought these for me and although I was skeptical, these actually helped me a lot when I was feeling my worst.
I also had complete pregnancy brain (still do) where I would wake up in the middle of the night worried I had forgotten to pay certain bills, I had a hard time remembering my normal duties. If you follow me on Twitter you might have also seen that I accidentally left the car running for about 30 minutes while we went into the grocery store. So let’s just say I wasn’t winning that day.
Right around 14 weeks is when I started to feel like I had more of an appetite and a little more energy. Some days are still hard but I am so happy to be out of the first trimester and thankful that everything has looked good thus far.
What were some of your must haves for that first trimester of pregnancy?
