I’m not sure where the month of December has went, but I hope that all of you had an amazing holiday filled month with your friends and family. We are now officially considered “term” at 37 weeks, and since so much has happened I knew I needed to do one last update. When I first found out I was pregnant I remember feeling like this year would never be over, and now that it’s almost done with I definitely have a bit of impending labor anxiety. I can’t believe that for most of 2017 I was growing this baby that I finally get to meet soon!
Latest happenings | At 35 weeks I was screened for GBS and thankfully that was negative. I had my first cervix check that week and was about 1/2 cm dilated and 50% effaced. I also had some tests done to see if I had cholestasis during pregnancy because I’ve been experiencing a ton of itching – mostly on my arms and legs at night. Those tests came back negative as well, but I’m still itchy and don’t really have any answer as to why. The next and probably biggest thing is that I will definitely be induced at 39 weeks due to my thyroid. So that means unless he comes sooner on his own I will be induced the week of January 8th!
How I’m feeling | To be completely honest, I am very anxious and nervous about everything to come. Around 36 weeks I definitely started to feel a lot more anxiety and it was surprising to me. I think just knowing that I have such a short amount of time before the biggest life change ever is about to happen is really hitting me. I think about labor and delivery, breastfeeding, bringing him home, juggling everything, and it’s scary! I’m so ready to meet this baby and hold him in my arms, so I’m trying to just focus on the end goal and everything else will work itself out the way it’s supposed to.
Baby | Baby boy now weighs roughly 6.5 pounds (but I’m thinking more) and is head down! I’ve been having twice weekly ultrasounds and NST’s done so we definitely know he is head down and looking good. He has gotten so much bigger these past couple of weeks and is still kicking my ribs like crazy (he must be tall like his dad).
Sleep | Between trips to the bathroom every couple of hours, intense insomnia, and popping tums all night – sleep isn’t that great but I try to get as much of it as I can because this girl is really sleepy these days.
Preparing for baby | We have everything ready and our hospital bags/diaper bag is packed and ready to go – I have a post coming next week about what I packed. All of his clothes are washed and folded, and everything we needed on our checklist is purchased. My mom got us the auto Rock n Play that we had been eyeing for Christmas and I am excited to have that after hearing great things!
If you think about it, please send prayers and good thoughts for a safe delivery. Pregnancy has been ROUGH, but there’s nothing I’m more thankful for. Even through being sick the entire first trimester, and heartburn from hell during the third, there has been nothing better than having this baby with me everywhere I go. Keep up with me on Instagram and Twitter, I’ll be updating there much sooner than the blog. I hope you all have the best New Years Eve, I’ll be hanging out with my husband and dog on the couch, drinking sparkling cider and soaking up these last few days just us!
