Whether you’re a stay at home mom, work from home, or work out of the home mama, all of our daily routines revolve around our little one(s) and making sure we get all of the things done.
At the moment I work from home & am finishing up my degree, so I take some classes online and others as night classes. Some days it’s extremely exhausting and overwhelming, but I’m thankful to be at home with my little dude while doing it. A day in the life or routine posts are honestly so fun for me to read, so I thought I’d share mine here!
I also wanted to add, this was prior to Nathan breaking his leg. We have not been able to play outside, but we still take our morning walk!
Morning:
Our routine is ever-changing. We all know my son has given me a rough go around with sleep, so our start to the day can really be anywhere between 5:30-7:30. No matter what time Nate wakes up, I try and start my day before getting him out of his bed.
I try and brush my teeth, start my coffee, get the house picked up, start my diffuser, and prep his breakfast. If he’s still asleep after this – I’ll get myself fully ready for the day, and that’s always what I hope for. If I can start my day ready and had some time to get going, it always makes for a much smoother morning!
Once Nathan is up, I change him and feed him breakfast. After breakfast (if the weather is nice enough), we get ready for our walk. We only live a couple blocks away from my moms house, so we usually walk the neighborhood and end up at her house and take advantage of her yard. We play with chalk or play ball, listen to music, and just try and be outside for the morning. It’s so nice!
We usually walk home and I’ll set him up with an activity at the kitchen table while I get lunch ready. Lately he’s been enjoying playing with play-doh or coloring.
Afternoon:
Depending on how much time is left after lunch and before nap – we might watch a little Toy Story, read books, or we do different activities (I have a whole post on our favorite toddler activities coming soon!)
Nap time is usually at noon everyday. So once he’s down – it’s my time to hustle. Most days I just hunker down and get to work. I do marketing work from home, so you’ll find me either writing my own blog posts, or posts for the company I work for, trying to create content, responding to emails, etc. I also have a lot of homework to fit into during this time. Sometimes I’ll have Handmaids Tale on while I work – but that usually causes me not to focus as well.
I always hope for 2.5 hours of work time, but every day is different.
After nap is always such a blur. It’s like a mad dash to getting dinner ready, and two nights a week I go to school until late. Luckly, Joe goes to work extremely early and gets home before 3pm, so there’s time to do errands or more work if needed in the afternoon.
Evening:
Evenings usually look the same for us. Dinner, sometimes a walk, hanging out, reading books, bath, and bedtime routine. Nathan goes to bed at 7:30, so once he is down I hop into bed and turn on Gilmore Girls that I’m re-watching for the millionth time. I’ll try and get more things done, if my mind lets me. If not I just try and relax, because we all know that some days with a toddler can be straight up exhausting. I call it a night around 9:00 – because, hello…I’m a grandma.
Anyway, that’s my day in the life. It’s not the most exciting, but some days we’ll hit up Target and that’s really living on the edge. Cause going anywhere with a kid under two is taking a risk.
